Tsunami and communications.

A tsunami is a series of wawes created when a body of water, such as an ocean is rapidly displaced. Earthquakes ,mass movements above or below water, some volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, underwater earthquakes, large asteroid impacts and testing with nuclear weapons at sea all have the potential to generate a tsunami. The effects of a tsunami can be devastating due to the immense volumes of water and energy involved. Since meteorites are small, they will not generate a tsunami.
The Greek historian Thucydides was the first to relate tsunamis to submarine quakes, but understanding of the nature of tsunamis remained slim until the 20th century and is the subject of ongoing research.
Many early geological, geographic, oceanographic etc., texts refer to "Seismic sea waves"—these are now referred to as "tsunami".

Digital divide
As part of its ongoing commitment to exploring new ways of bridging the digital divide, the Benton Foundation's Communications Policy Program has developed the DIGITAL DIVIDE listserv. DIGITAL DIVIDE is a moderated discussion in which citizens can discuss the wide range of issues related to bridging the digital divide. The listserv, which currently includes over 800 members from around the world, cuts across disciplinary boundaries: community activists, educators, researchers, representatives of commercial and nonprofit enterprises, volunteers, students and concerned citizens are all encouraged to take part in this online discussion.
The listserv tackles the digital divide from a variety of angles, which include (but are not limited to), the following subjects:
- technology access issues; - content creation for underserved populations and communities; - combating illiteracy in its many forms; - online diversity; - economic development and workforce issues; - community building; - the Internet and cultural diversity; - digital divide news and events; - education and training; - best practices from local, national and international Digital Divide efforts; - obstacles to bridging the Digital Divide; - new tools for measuring the Divide; - public/private and commercial/nonprofit partnerships; and - public policy issues.

Email is a service, has grown exponentially as the internet .Using email is quite simple.
Essentially a message is sent to an individual post box on a mail server where it waits until an email client. Email can now also be used on mobile phone connected TV or games station connection to the internet.
Advantages of email result from its simplicity. It is very easy to use; it is fast; it provide a permanent record of communications; it is an informal medium but capable of formality.
As usual though, these advantages also point to some of the disadvantages. It is so easy to use it is often misused .At simple level people send inappropriate messages. People spoof others addressed .Viruses, worms and Trojan can attached very easily. Spam mail block up mailboxes and whole areas of the internet itself.
